Ableton Midi and Audio Recorder - template

[EDIT: YOU MIGHT WANT TO USE THIS TEMPLATE IF YOU HAVE MADE TRACKS WITH THE LOOPBE1 MIDI DRIVER AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RENDER/EXPORT TO FILE] This is a template I made a while ago and never got around to putting up. With this template you will be able to record midi in in real time to a fixed le...

Ok, not the downloads - should the downloaded presets write protect too?
I meant from before with older version. Didn't know that about new version.

Up to you with the write protect, not sure. Maybe not, they always have another copy.

Re: It doesn't play any sound.

Cool.

I overwrote some presets by mistake, so this is good to have.

Harder to do now you have changed the file management, but still.

Re: Dragging across all steps, inputs data to all steps

Also, did I mention that the text is too small for me to read on my screen? I'm sorry, I don't have perfect eyesight anymore and need to get glasses. I think I mentioned this maybe 4/5 times? I still can not read it without it hurting my eyes. Though it is better than it was and I can read it if I s...

:?: :?: :?:  RTFM  :!: :!: :!:  Well, I would have, but I couldn't read the text, until you changed it. And I was busy with testing other things so had no time. I tried it again when I was very tired and playing about and hence my comment. I just thought it might be useful feedba...

Re: Some kind of 'Follow Action' or 'Scroll' option?

This is one of my most wanted features too - it's already on the todo. Not sure how to call it, maybe "timeline follow" or the negative version "fixed bar view". Suggestions? 'Follow Sequence', 'Static Sequence'. something like that. Is it possible to embed screencast videos? Did you see such an op...

Some kind of 'Follow Action' or 'Scroll' option?

What I mean is, when B-Step cycles through the sequences, it would be good if it could actually jump to the sequences so you can see what the notes are. It does cycle through and you can see where you are at the bottom and what seq is playing but to have it visualised in the top pane as well would b...

Re: Dragging across all steps, inputs data to all steps

I finally got this to work. I found it hard making the settings for it to work. Probably just me being dumb.

Works great now I have figured it out. Great feature. Shoulda RTFM. ;-)

Re: Skin Colour Editor - Ideas

As i see we have exacly one free place in the colour styler for the text colour :-) Or we use the same colour as for the icons on the right side? Try going with Text colour for now. See how that works. Not exactly sure what you mean, but yeah, try it with text. Would be good to make use of that ext...

Re: Ableton not rendering the output of B-Step

There seems to be different behaviour in Ableton depending on the midi routing implementation you use. The loopbe1 midi driver seems more powerful for live use but won't render/export to audio. Use the 'in host routing' for when you want to hear the synths you trigger on export. But if you are just ...

No sound in Ableton with LoopBe1 midi driver

Sometimes when you use the LoopBe1 midi driver in Ableton, it cuts out and mutes the sound. It doesn't really give any warning when it does this and it can confuse you and make you spend half an hour working out why your synths are not triggered. If you are using windows 7 make sure you set it to 'S...

Re: Studio One: How to get B-Step Sequencer running

This is a new template for Studio One that triggers four different synths on four different midi channels. All independently so you can mute individual tracks. You can do many other routings of course, but this is just one example. I have used four instances of Dune CM with different patches, but th...

Re: Skin Colour Editor - Ideas

Maybe I didn't explain very well. It would take me an hour to do screenshots and mockups and there are just so many little issues to sort out.

Everything is fine. I am just raising points. If you need more clarification just ask, and when I am not so tired and have more time I can explain better.

Keep it as it is. Just one colour for all the left buttons. Just make it consistent so they all look the same. This is less jarring and distracting. http://s7.postimg.org/vlzqrpb87/Capture.jpg All these buttons should be consistent. They should have the same background colour. the same text colour. ...

Re: Ableton not rendering the output of B-Step

This issue has been solved to a large extent. But there are still some things that need to be sorted out. At least now you will be able to render whatever you come up with and hear in Ableton, so really this is a major step forward. I have included two project files - one with a single track being t...

Re: Skin Colour Editor - Ideas

The Bar Mute colours need to be sorted out as well. The text is illegible on the far left that says 'Bar' and when you change the mute colours to make it legible, it makes the mutes on the buttons illegible. These need to be decoupled. One setting for text. One setting for 'buttons', squares, wtf yo...

Hi yota. Your English is much better than my Japanese. I understood you fine. I use imac(OS10.6.8). Ok, Mac is not my thing, but I'm going to show you some VSTs that you need to use to make sound with B-Step. The pages are in Japanese, so I am hoping they will explain things better than I ever could...

I've changed that last theme very slightly and it makes a lot more sense to me now. Still needs some tweaks, but I'll improve it as I go along. Rather than doing loads of different themes that don't make sense to me, I'd at least like to get one theme where I know where everything is. http://s27.pos...

Dragging across all steps, inputs data to all steps

It would be good if you could just drag with the mouse across a row of steps to input data (turn them all on), just like you can do in FLStudio. And dragging across the steps again, deletes the data (turns the notes off). This is handy when you want one of those 16th note hi-hat patterns. Quickly do...

Some 'Master' Control knobs would be nice

Say you want to set all the notes in your sequence down an octave. At the moment you have to go and do each one individually if you are using the Step Octave knobs, and it takes time. Some kind of master control knob that could be activated, by say, clicking on Step Octave, making it magically appea...

This is a theme idea I have created with the excellent new Colour Editor: http://s22.postimg.org/kehpg9c99/B_STEP_THEME_1.jpg I am trying to go for neutral overall, with things like mute and solo standing out a bit more than the rest, obviously.
